Looks good Alex. You definitely have established a solid vibe. The videos are a bit dark (maybe it's the exposure post settings in UE) but the lighting/tone/music are all great.

Is this a solo project? The youtube description says it's solo but then you also say "we/our" a lot when talking about the game.

This has a really really nice look to it! Kind of reminds me of Heretic II and I was a huge fan of that game's aesthetics back in the day. A game along those lines with a mix of third person platforming and boomer shooter action is sorely missing in the market today. Plus if you take that route you don't need to worry about complex Dark Souls-esque enemy AI. Just funny batlike demons that spit fireballs at you at such.

I do agree the lighting is still dark. You might want to turn up the GI or at the very least use an ambient color other than black. If it's nighttime I highly recommend purple!! The bits of moonlight you have coming from the outside look great so I'd lean into that even more.

Hey, thanks for having a look! It's cool to see the forum is already picking up. I totally agree about the darkness. I have updates to the lighting in the next update here, It's still going to feel dim, but hopefully more readable and balanced.

@Niles Yes, I think I say "we" sometimes out of habit. This video was an update for Patrons who are on this journey with me, and so I think I say it because it feels more inclusive for them. My wife does some social media and website work for me, but I am indeed the only hands-on developer right now.

@Lantanadan I loved Heretic back in the day! I'd like to implement a blocking mechanic, but I'd like the combat to feel more hack and slash than a delicate dance of parries and dodges. I think the trick will be to vary the movement and abilities of enemies.

Here's a look at some dungeon-style nanite I've conjured up so we can dive even deeper into this thing!

@Jack If it’s not a pain in the butt I wouldn’t mind changing the url to my art station,

https://alexkola.artstation.com/

The current website, tigerskullrpg.com is for my 3d printing work haha must have been carried over from discord or something. The game project doesn’t have its own dedicated web page just yet…

Cheers dude

Whoa! Now that's something! The first time I beheld Lotus and his cloak, a really old game popped into my mind: Heavy on the Magick, which, in its time, was seen as visually stunning. :)

Jack you are the man, thank you.

Sandor HQ, man this game would have done me for a loop back in 1992. I love the tone of these dank dos era games..
