The Razorform

Post by niles »

Hey all, finally announcing my project "The Razorform". Take a look at the trailer below. Hope you all like it.

It's a solo project using UE5, but I also rely heavily on modified marketplace assets. This represents about 2-3 years of work (hard to say exactly since I had a full time job for most of that, and my first child arrived). It's kinda overly ambitious and very risky, but it's what I want to build, so I'm building it.

I'm hoping to get early playtesting going sometime in October, so please let me know if you're interested in playing and providing honest feedback :)

I'll keep the thread updated on progress. Let me know if you have any questions etc.

The implied story intrigues me very much, just like the visuals. I'm pretty bad with action games and can only them on the easiest difficulty (?) level, but I'll definitely give this a try.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate the positive feedback on the trailer. I've been super stressed for the last few weeks prepping for this.

Yea, this is one of the more challenging aspects of action game design. I'm trying to properly ramp the difficulty and allow lower skill players to ease into the game. But ofc, even the most basic of encounters can be VERY challenging for some players. Then I start to question "Am I trying too hard to appeal to ALL players, and should I just focus on the core audience?? But I want everyone to like it!!" haha. At very least, it'll make for some good IndustryDev discussions on this topic.

Anyway, some playtesting will add clarity to all this.. so I need to re-focus on that soon. Fwiw, the trailer is composed of shots taken from me simply playing the current demo. So the game is generally "there". We'll see how it holds up.

Props to you, this looks awesome. I like how you combine different types of cameras, and still create a coherent feeling, that is not easy to do.
